Avalokiteshvara symbolizes infinite compassion and holds a very important position in Mahayana Buddhism. The statue depicts Avalokiteshvara in his most popular form, with one face, and four arms, and sits with his legs crossed on a lotus throne. In these front hands, he holds the wish-fulfilling jewel, Cintamani. In his rear hands, he holds the prayer necklace (an aid in meditation) and a lotus flower (purity of mind).
